Work continues to prepare for the Green Volt project with our specialist teams currently undertaking an extensive programme of private water supply ground-truthing and sampling along the proposed onshore cable route.
Private water supplies are common in this part of Aberdeenshire and are an important consideration for the project. Ground-truthing and sampling help us verify existing information, better understand individual water supplies and identify any potential interactions with the proposed works.
Carrying out this work on the ground provides local information and enhances our knowledge of individual supplies, helping to inform the next stages of project planning. This is one of a number of activities currently progressing across Green Volt, as we continue the detailed work required to prepare the project for its next stages.
Our specialist contractor HighWater has been visiting properties along the proposed cable route, speaking directly with residents and landowners to build on information already gathered. These visits help us develop greater insight into the water supplies relied upon by local homes, farms and businesses, including how they are used and their importance to those who depend on them.
We recognise the importance of these supplies to local communities and remain committed to working closely with residents and landowners throughout this process, keeping those potentially affected informed as the work develops. Where possible, the team will speak with residents and landowners during their visit. If no one is available, a project representative will endeavour to leave a questionnaire, so information about the supply can still be provided to the project team, and arrangements can potentially be made for a visit later.
