ECONOMIC
GROWTH

Floating wind provides new opportunities and challenges for the UK supply chain. In the next 30 years, 20,000 floating substructures could be needed to decarbonise energy systems across the globe¹.

The UK offshore wind industry must look to its strengths and seize the opportunity to develop and export a leading industry in dynamic power cables, substructure fabrication and mooring and anchor system production.

Green Volt will bring significant regional and national level inward investment and is estimated to deliver a total of over £2.5 billion of Gross Value Added (GVA), with over £1.3 billion GVA in the UK alone.

    EMPLOYMENT

As well as supporting growth in the UK’s floating offshore wind supply chain, Green Volt will deliver over 2,800 direct jobs during the project’s construction phase, with another 100 jobs created over the long term operational lifespan of the windfarm.

The Green Volt project itself already employs dozens of people across the UK, with headcount expected to increase significantly over the months and years ahead.

    COMMUNITY
    BENEFIT

Community benefits are a tool to ensure that where infrastructure such as renewable energy is necessary, communities can directly benefit from hosting it. It is important to the Green Volt project to collaborate with our supply chains, local communities, and environmental bodies to ensure that our project has a lasting positive impact.

Community benefits can cover, but are not limited to:

    • Finance for local projects
    • Outreach initiatives
    • Funding to individuals or organisations in a local area

Community benefits can also be used to deliver investment and growth in the local area, especially when used to invest in local infrastructure, supply chain and skills.

The Project team has been working with local people, businesses and organisations to identify key themes and projects that will deliver strategic benefits and directly support the local community and local priorities.

We welcome further input from the local community and encourage you to reach out to the project team via [email protected]
