The 2026 programme of survey works to support delivery of the Green Volt offshore windfarm is continuing, with the commencement of phase three ground investigation works across the project’s onshore cable route.
The latest survey programme continues until 7 July 2026, providing essential information about the geotechnical profile of the land along the cable route. The team will collect a series of soil and rock samples by drilling boreholes at key locations in order to inform the design of the civil, cable and system works for the project.
At some locations, monitoring equipment will also remain in place for longer periods of time, gathering data about groundwater depths across the seasons. These techniques will help to inform the project’s design and construction methodology.
In recent weeks, the Green Volt team have also concluded a programme of aerial drone surveys, centred around the beach at Craigewan Links. The drone surveys began on 26 May 2026, collecting a range of data from the coastal environment.
Green Volt onshore site investigation work
”“Delivering this programme of onshore site investigations for Green Volt is a significant milestone for the project. We are grateful to the landowners along the route who have worked with our dedicated land team to facilitate access to the necessary survey locations. Getting to this stage is a testament to the hard work of the team, and their commitment to the delivery of the project.”
