Earlier this week, we held drop-in workshops with landowners to discuss upcoming engineering activities along the project’s onshore cable corridor.
Hosted at the Saplinbrae Hotel, 16km west of Peterhead, the project team welcomed local landowners and their agents to discuss Green Volt’s next steps and gather valuable feedback.
These drop-in workshops were an important part of the project team’s ongoing commitment to transparency, collaboration, and responsible development as we progress the Green Volt offshore windfarm.
Developed under Crown Estate Scotland’s INTOG Leasing Round and having secured full onshore and offshore planning consents in April 2024, Green Volt is on track to become the first commercial-scale floating windfarm in Europe.
In September 2024, the project was awarded a Contracts for Difference (CfD) by UK Government.
Drop-in meeting with local landowners and the Green Volt project team
Here’s what the project team covered in the sessions
- Project overview & upcoming works
Attendees received a clear outline of our planned engineering activities along the consented cable corridor, with timelines, key phases, and intended outcomes - Minimising disruption with HDD technology
We explained how Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) will help us reduce surface disruption — especially around roads, watercourses, and sensitive environments — ensuring minimal impact on landowners and local infrastructure - Our commitment to best practice
The team detailed how we’re prioritising safety, environmental protection, and land restoration throughout construction - Meaningful engagement
Most importantly, we had the opportunity to speak directly with landowners, listen to concerns, and provide tailored information to support those impacted by the development
Green Volt is expected to create 2,800 direct jobs during the project’s construction phase
We’re incredibly grateful to all who attended and contributed to these vital conversations. Your input is shaping how we move forward—and strengthening the foundation for a greener energy future in Scotland.
Thank you for being part of the journey.
