As part of Green Volt’s commitment to supporting the communities around our project, Teresa Dawson, Community Liaison, has been a regular supporter of the Maud Blue Light Breakfast Club since it began two years ago.
The breakfast club was established after Maud Fire Station wanted to replicate the successful Peterhead Fire Station initiative. Without suitable facilities of their own, Maud Resource Centre stepped in to host the event. Running during the school holidays, the club aims to help tackle holiday food poverty, reduce social isolation, and bring people of different ages together.
This summer, around 100 people attended across the two sessions, with the first focused on children and families and the second attracting mainly adults. Teresa’s role involves helping provide and serve breakfast, make teas, and most importantly meet people, listen to their experiences and build positive relationships within the local community.
Teresa has supported the October, Easter and Summer breakfast clubs this year, helping Green Volt maintain a visible and meaningful presence at community events. Her attendance is greatly appreciated with one of the Maud Centre facilitators sharing:
